Have you ever played a sport in your life, or been to a sporting event, or played in your backyard? Most of you probably answered yes. When you are a child, most of you played sports. Either by choice or by your parents choice. You were taught the skills, rules, winning and losing, and most importantly to have fun. But while you were playing sports I am sure you learned a lot more than just winning or losing. I bet you learned life lessons that you wouldn't have if you did not play sports.
No matter what sport you have played or still do play whether it is football, soccer, baseball, lacrosse, track, you were taught that you win or lose. You know that there can only be one winner and one loser. What else did it teach you though? I know it taught me a lot more than that. I grew playing all kinds of sports and when I look back on my experiences I am glad that I played. Not just so I know the rules now when I watch but because it taught me so many things that I can carry on in life every single day. Throughout life sports taught me how to be a team player, how to depend on other people. Although I am a very independent person, it is still nice to know that you always have people to lean on. It teaches you trust. If you play a team sport at some time or another you are going to have to trust another person to get the job done. Just like in your everyday life, you have to trust someone else in almost everything you do. Whether it is your parents, teachers, siblings, boss you have to trust them. It also teaches you to never give up. In sports, you either win or lose. If you are losing you are going to keep trying. You are going to give it everything you have. If you are winning you have to keep doing your best to achieve the goal you are trying to reach. This is just like life. If you want to achieve your dreams and reach your goals you have to always keep pushing. Move forward and try harder. You can never give up on something that you want so badly to accomplish. These reasons I listed are why I think sports is more than just a game. |
